The native language

set limits for her

within days of her birth.

A free spirit-

she refused to be tied down

to the societal norms and legacies.

A 'precious thing, a treasure'

she was, in a different language.

'A beautiful face', called her

another foreign tongue.

Undeterred by the obstacles

thrown her way by her own people

she carved a fresh path for herself

and her daughter.

Sisterhood beyond borders

of language, faiths and ideologies

is the bond she cherishes

with her soul sisters.

The world may call her Seema

but she knows her worth

she chooses her own limits,

draws her own boundaries.
