If Only I Could

If only I could
I would turn away from the little children
they are sweet but I wouldn't pick on them

If only I could
I would look through the aged and the infirm
they need love and care, not a deadly venom

If only I could
I would acquire super powers
and control my virulent actions

If only I could
I would identify and hug only
the mean and cruel murderers
the selfish, mercenary businessmen
those who spread hatred-the men of religion
those who create green wars-the vile politicians

If only I could
I would kill myself before my fangs
seize the innocent and the harmless.

Alas! I am a lethal but helpless virus
who the naive, reckless humans
fatally unleash upon themselves 
forgetting the mantra of social distance.
