Aai

a woman is complete
they said, only when she becomes a mother
an abandoned baby girl made
another abandoned human a mother
a 'defective' human-
neither a man nor a woman
a social outcast
even though her body was none of her fault

those callous words...
would cleave a deep chasm through her heart
but the mockery, the jibes, 
being incomplete don't matter anymore
memories of the painful past 
are now a thing of days bygone
claps for 'Aai' today, 
the society which derided her raucous songs and claps

proudly she strides
a true manifestation of shakti and womanhood  
an embodiment she is
of boundless confidence and love, a formidable mother.
