Aches for you the anguished heart
You, who held us all together
You, who were the main pivot,
the force which kept us united.
The longing for peaceful days of yore
When people of all castes, creed and color
laughed, cried and celebrated together,
Alas! It doesn't happen anymore.
They came, they conquered
They played cunning games
Exposed the country to distrust,
disharmony and vicious violence.
Ravaged is the linguistic, cultural
and religious diversity of the country
You seem to have deserted us, but please
don't RIP, the spirit of peaceful coexistence.
